Dear friends!
I am so very happy with Obama’s victory in the United States of America. This historic event belongs to you, but also to everybody all over the world. Especially for us Black women and men, because in that victory we see that people of African descent can climb the highest of mountains.
This is also a victory for those who were assassinated in the fight against racism in the United States. Axé for Martin Luther King Jr. and axé to our great ancestors!
Those of any race, nationality, political position, that dream about a world of peace, of justice, of fraternity, also celebrate this victory. We know that the financial crisis and the two wars are the tragic inheritance of the George W. Bush era. This means that things will not be easy for Barack Obama. But we are quite sure that the Native American, the African, the Latino and the White American will stand up to collaborate for fair economics, and for a democratic and peaceful political agenda, which requires urgent action.
What I can do from here is pray. God bless Obama and all of you.
